01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Located on the second floor of a building tucked into a Hiroo side street, SHU'S KITCHEN HIROO crafts course menus centered on meat, highlighted by thoughtful ingredient pairings and precise heat management. A featured main on the dinner course is the Yezo sika deer cutlet, prepared using the shintama round cut to highlight the tender, fine grain and moist texture of lean venison. The kitchen also sends out inventive courses that surprise the palate, including a house specialty of crow tortelli that folds a rarely encountered ingredient into fresh pasta.
The progression delivers detailed touches from start to finish, opening with sweet shrimp tartare topped with caviar, whimsical cotton candy, and house-made buckwheat bread served alongside the meal. Daytime visits offer lighter options like the pascade, a salad presented in a crepe shell, while evening hours invite diners to settle in with glasses of wine or beer.
Inside, counter seats let guests experience the energy of the kitchen up close, supported by attentive table service throughout the meal. Dinner is best enjoyed with a prior reservation, making it a reliable destination for anniversaries or special occasions when you want to take your time over deep, savory meat dishes.
